Bestseller kicks off store-opening spree

Danish brand house Bestseller is embarking on a major expansion in the UK with a raft of store openings.

The company has also launched a footwear and accessories brand and a kidswear brand into the UK.

Bestseller plans to open 20 stores for men’s young fashion brand Jack & Jones across the UK over the next 12 months. Locations include Westfield Stratford City, Lakeside in Thurrock and Braehead in Glasgow, which will all open in September. This will bring the total number of Jack & Jones UK standalone stores to 34. It also has 12 dual-branded Jack & Jones and Vero Moda fascias.

Bestseller will also open its first UK Vero Moda standalone store at Westfield Stratford City at the end of next month.

Bestseller country manager Allan Nielsen said the company would look to roll out Vero Moda across the UK if the first store proved successful.

Bestseller has also launched two more brands into the UK – contemporary women’s footwear and accessories brand Pieces and kidswear brand Name It – for spring 12.

Pieces, which was showcased at Pure London earlier this month, includes leather bags, scarves and jewellery as well as footwear. Stockists already signed up include young fashion chains Bank and USC, House of Fraser and Oliver Bonas. Wholesale prices range from £3.30 for a belt to £40 for a leather handbag.

Name It will open shop-in-shops in every House of Fraser that stocks kidswear. It has 10 further stockists including indies Los Ninos in Wirral and Minsky in Winchmore Hill, north London. Wholesale prices start at £3.14 for newborn clothing and go up to £30 for a jacket.

Vila, Bestseller’s contemporary womenswear brand, and women’s denim brand Only are available in the UK at its London Oxford Street flagship, which trades under the Jack & Jones/Vero Moda joint fascia, and indie stockists. It has standalone stores for Moda, Vila, Only and Jack & Jones across Europe and the Middle East.

Bestseller’s expansion follows a record year of growth last year, with its wholesale business increasing by 48%. It has 100 UK stockists for Vero Moda, six for Vila, 54 for Only and 60 for its womenswear brand Selected Femme.
