Betty Jackson steps out at Debenhams

Womenswear designer Betty Jackson, who last month announced she was taking a break from her own label, is launching her first footwear collection with Debenhams.

The women’s footwear collection will hit stores on August 8, after Jackson said she would continue her partnership with the retailer.

Retail prices will start at £45 for the seven-piece collection, which includes pumps with bow detailing, and wedges in suede and patent leathers. In October it will be updated with a patent boot and a fringed loafer.

The collection follows the success of the Betty Jackson Black offer for Designers at Debenhams, which launched in 2005. Sales of leather handbags are up 14% like-for-like. Debenhams is also forecasting sales of Betty Jackson Black soft accessories will grow 79% this autumn.

Speaking to Drapers, Debenhams head of accessories design Natelle Baddeley said: “The brand is really strong for us and shoes were the natural progression. The range is affordable, fashionable and really good quality.”
