Ethical footwear brand Beyond Skin and men’s footwear brand Northern Cobbler are two of the recipients of the first British Footwear Association (BFA) Accelerated Development Programme.
This is the first year that industry body the BFA has introduced the programme, designed to build on the mentoring scheme it already offers, by partnering the winning companies with senior mentors from across the industry in order to help them grow.
The other brands joining Northern Cobbler and Beyond Skin on the programme are women’s footwear designers Joanne Stoker and Zoe Lee.
The successful applicants were selected following an interview process and beat off competition from some of the best emerging footwear brands in the country.
“The introduction of this new level to our existing mentoring and advisory service will enhance the chances of these four brilliant brands firmly establishing themselves more successfully on international markets,” said BFA chief executive Richard Kottler.
“Our carefully chosen and trained Mentors will be matched with each of the participating companies and I am sure we will see positive results during 2013 and onwards.”
