Blacks Leisure in talks with potential buyers

Blacks Leisure, which owns the Blacks, Millets and Freespirit chains, is in discussions over a possible sale of the group.

In a statement, Blacks Leisure said it had received approaches concerning a possible offer for the group.

Blacks Leisure said: “Discussions in relation to these approaches are currently at an early stage and may or may not lead to an offer for the group. There can be no certainty that an offer will be made nor as to the terms on which any offer might be made.”

Blacks Leisure has been trying to offload its underperforming boardsports division which includes the Freespirit and O’Neill stores.

Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley, has a 29.4% stake in Blacks Leisure.
