Image gallery: Alexander McQueen's devil of a show

A new book of previously unseen photographs tells the story of Alexander McQueen’s seminal autumn 96 show at Christ Church in London’s East End.

Inferno: Alexander McQueen contains images from the runway and backstage of the clothing and those involved at the ‘Dante’ show in March 1996, which was held at Christ Church in Spitalfields during London Fashion Week.

The dark, theatrical catwalk cemented a number of themes that McQueen would become renowned for, included religious iconography, crudely bleached denim and chiffon embellishment.

Priced at £24.99, Inferno: Alexander McQueen by Kent Baker, with words by Melanie Rickey, is published later this month by Laurence King.
