Bluewater extension plans submitted

Property group Lend Lease has submitted an outline planning applications for a 330,000 sq ft extension to Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

The plans, which were first mooted in August, were submitted today (December 7) and propose an extension to Bluewater’s West Village comprising both retail and catering units.

If the plans are approved, the extension would create up to 2,300 jobs.

Gareth Johnson, MP for Dartford, has given his backing to the proposals.

“Lend Lease’s proposals are not only welcomed as the next stage in Bluewater’s evolution, but are seen as of great benefit to the area, particularly with up to 2,300 jobs being created,” he said.

Richard Coppell, head of retail development at Lend Lease, added: “The submission of the outline planning application signifies the single biggest milestone in the evolution of Bluewater since it opened.”
