Preppy looks, rips and stains on jeans, bicycle polo uniforms and futuristic, glamorous styles are among the trends visitors to the Berlin trade show can look forward to seeing next week.
Replay’s autumn 10 collection centres around dark, intense denim washes and special effects, with its denim heritage spilling out into other
product categories such as denim outer layers used on quilted jackets and denim fans as pleats on mini skirts. For men, flame effects, rips and subtle stains give a rugged look to jeans, while checked turn-ups add humour. Fits include the new straight vintage, with loose leg and crotch and a slightly higher waist. For women, three-dimensional effects with stains are significant, as is the skinny fit. Tops are close-fitting, with classic fabrics matched with technical ones, such as nylon and denim jackets.
Replay will show its collection in the Denim Base on stand D20

‘Collegiate meets urban sports’ is the tag line behind Chunk’s autumn 10 offer. Fans will appreciate the attention to detail, in rich shades of claret, tartan green, classic marls and neutrals. Fabrics include loop-back jersey fleeces, mid-weight piqués and chunky waffles. Key pieces include a washed 12-gauge cotton knit cardigan with engineered contrast stripes and towelling appliqué collegiate detailing; a long-sleeved jersey bike polo featuring customised placket detail; and a crew-neck sweat with contrast stripe and appliquéd detail on the sleeve and ‘Americana’ graphic on the chest.

The second season for Freesoul at Bread & Butter offers up a chic yet rugged aesthetic with checked fabrics, slouchy sweat pants, oversized and patchwork tops and vintage-washed tapered jeans. Skinny and slim fits are once more important for Freesoul denim. Darns, spraying, light washes that produce a white brushstroke effect, silicon and leather effects are all present. The rest of the range features interesting additions such as carbon-plated material on jackets and outerwear, which help the garment fade with use and enhance the vintage effect, while a yarn produced using special twisting techniques accentuates an uneven look in some garments.
Freesoul will be on stand D31 in the Denim Base

Lee will show its 101 and Archives ranges for the first time at Bread & Butter following a successful return last season after a three-year absence. 101 is inspired by the slim rider jean from the 1940s, which is new to the collection and comes in a white selvedge indigo bio-cotton. Denim shirts also look to the past and there are two new blue styles and one new black wash. The blanket-lined storm rider jacket comes with a sherpa lining for autumn 10. Tops focus on chambray, heavy knits and checked shirts.
