British Fashion Council names first Fashion Forward menswear winner

The British Fashion Council has named Henry Holland, Louise Gray, Mary Katrantzou this year’s winners of its young design talent initiative, Fashion Forward, with James Long its first menswear recipient.

The four designers will receive sponsorship allowing them to show at London Fashion Week for two consecutive seasons, as well as business support from the BFC.

Earlier this week, the BFC, announced its first menswear committee, which will support and promote the category in the UK and internationally. The organisation is priming menswear as key to UK fashion export trade.

Caroline Rush, CEO, British Fashion Council, added: “Menswear in London will be put in the spotlight this year making now the perfect time to introduce a menswear prize to Fashion Forward.”

Fashion Forward, launched in 2006, champions emerging designers who have already progressed through the BFC’s NEWGEN ‘launch pad’ programme, or who are more advanced in developing their businesses.
