Brown Thomas launches Easter Sale

Irish premium department store business Brown Thomas has slashed prices on most products by 20% to drum up sales over the Easter break.

Brown Thomas, which also owns the younger BT2 format department store in Dublin, will run the Sale across all of its stores until April 19. The strapline for the Sale is “Blow the Budget”.

Retailers in the Republic of Ireland were hit by news that shoppers’ disposable income was likely to be hit by tax increases announced in an emergency budget on Tuesday.

A raft of retailers in the UK are also offering discounts over the holiday period. Outdoor chain Millets has cut 20%off the price of all jackets. Tailoring chain TM Lewin has reduced it suits from £225 to £195 until April 13, while George at Asda has cut the price of its entry level suit from £25 to £20 over the Easter weekend.

Debenhams and House of Fraser launched Easter Sales earlier this week with discounts of up to 70% and 50%respectively.
