BSSA boss to retire

John Dean the chief executive of the British Shops and Stores Association (BSSA) is to retire at the end of the year.

John Dean, who will step down after a decade at the helm of the body which represents independent retailers in the UK, told Drapers he had enjoyed his time in the role.

He will be replaced by Alan Hawkins, who is the managing director of the British Hardware Federation Group (BHFG).

The BSSA and BHFG are in the process of merging.
