Area manager, Ireland, Warehouse.
Rebecca Flood has come a long way since joining the family business, fashion retailer John Flood Menswear, as a Saturday girl. During seven years in the Wicklow-based business Flood progressed to running the store in her father’s absence, while studying for a diploma in Retail Management at the Dublin Institute of Technology, graduating in 2007.
In October that year she walked into her first role at Warehouse as deputy manager of the retailer’s store in Arklow, County Wicklow, a position she held until January 2008 when she was promoted to branch manager.
Flood’s responsibility grew over the next five years working across a variety of stores, prompting her selection for Warehouse’s Aspire to Accelerate development programme in 2010. The initiative helped prepare her for a secondment two years later as area supervisor for Ireland, responsible for 20 stores. The role was made permanent within six months.
Embracing all the opportunities to come her way, she was promoted to area manager in February, covering Warehouse’s 25 Irish stores. In the opinion of Rachel Hume, New Look country manager for the UK and Ireland, Flood is on track for a role at director level. “Rebecca has an understated approach, but below her calm exterior there is a huge passion and commitment that drives her to exceed over other area managers. She is the last man standing to make sure her area trades well.”
