Welcome to the first in a series of exclusive Drapers Market Reports, looking in detail at particular areas within our diverse and varied fashion sector.
In this initial report we’ve focused on fashion retail in all its guises – from the smallest indie to the largest multiple – and have explored a range of different issues, from what is currently driving business to what retailers believe will be the shape of things to come. Underpinning this report is a survey undertaken by Drapers during February this year among its core readership, which gathered responses from 329 retailers across the indie, multiple and etail sectors.
The breakdown of who responded can be seen here, alongside the breakdown of the types of retailer that responded and also the number of stores they have, the and the type of consumer they serve. Where relevant, we’ve broken out the results to give a picture of how challenges and trading differ across the market and also included, anonymously of course, some additional comments made by those who responded.
The attached PDF’s (bottom right) give an overview of the key findings, alongside some commentary and analysis from Drapers and leading sector analyst Nick Bubb on how they might be interpreted and what they might mean for the sector’s future.
