The starting route for a role such as this would normally be as a PR or marketing assistant dealing with product placement, event planning, and communication strategy. You will need to be ambitious and determined and gain great experience in a well-known brand.
Then you could either go down the brand marketing manager route or the PR/communications manager route. A managerial role will help you to gain the necessary demonstrable experience of taking control of a team and in turn, motivating and developing them. You will need to be innovative and passionate and want to help shape and elevate the brand. Possessing excellent communication skills is essential, both to deal with internal teams and also with external stakeholders. As a global director you will need to be an inspiring and creative leader and constantly be coming up with new ways of communicating with consumers using a variety of channels. A global role will require alignment of strategy across various regions and speaking a language, or more than one, would obviously be hugely beneficial.
Taking all of the above into account will help you to land a global role, which can be an amazing opportunity both in terms of career development and remuneration.
Salaries for this position range from £70,000 to £90,000 (estimate provided by Henry Fox)
