“Our customers are always looking for high-quality pieces, although they tend to worry less about the price in the run-up to Christmas when they’re looking to buy gifts. Our customers are quite classic in their tastes and really like classic Skopes tailored suits (£160) in grey, navy and black. Digel jackets (£280) and Meyer trousers (£90) are also selling well. For spring 16 we’re introducing the whole Fynch-Hatton collection. After Boxing Day, we’re going to be offering 30% to 40% off most things in store.”

Mark Clifton, manager of Clive Menswear in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion

“Our customers are looking for good customer service and high-quality clothes. At the moment they’re interested in a lot of tweeds, leathers and velvet. A Helium black leather jacket (£199 to £239) is a definite favourite, as are Scott by The Label full-length tweed overcoats (£159 to £189) and Magee V-neck knitwear (£79) in classic navy blue. We have no plans for a Christmas Sale, although on January 1 we will start offering discounts of 40% off knitwear and coats.”
