Land Securities has rolled out a click-and-collect service at two of its shopping centres as it explores ways to adapt its space to multichannel shopper habits.
The landlord has teamed up with Collect+ to deliver collect points at St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff and Trinity Leeds.
The units have been installed within the centres, set within a service area which is manned by shopping centre staff and includes fitting rooms for customers to try on items bought online.
Collect+ is a joint venture between multichannel payments platform PayPoint and courier Yodel. It serves more than 260 retailers in the UK through 5,500 collection points.
Land Securities head of retail marketing Sean Curtis said: “Significant changes in consumer behaviour mean it is vital that shopping centres respond to the needs of today’s multichannel customer. We identified that under a third of our retailers offered click-and-collect in these schemes. This new partnership ensures we continue to deliver best-in-class retail and leisure destinations that are equipped with the most innovative technologies and services.
“We will be monitoring the click-and-collect trials closely as part of our national strategy to support retailers in a multichannel environment.”
