The class of 2013: Emma McKeever

Ahead of Drapers unveiling 2014’s 30 under 30 of young fashion professionals to watch in our January 11 issue, we find out what the class of 2013 have been up to. Today we catch up with Coast marketing manager Emma McKeever.

How did it feel being named in Drapers’ 30 under 30?
It was so brilliant to get receive the recognition of Drapers’ 30 under 30 at this point in my career.

What has happened in your career since then?
I’m now reporting directly into the Coast deputy managing director Jo McWilliams and also get to work closely with our new CEO, Kate Bostock. I have full accountability for the launch of our seasonal campaigns – from the shoots through to press days and in-store messaging. This is a big responsibility, but I enjoy taking on the challenge and it’s motivating to know that the leadership team trust my direction. It’s such an exciting time for the brand with so much happening for 2014. I feel like there will be lots to get involved in and to learn from.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people who want to get started in a career clothing retail?
If you put the hours in and work hard enough then you will get what you want. Say yes rather than no and listen to absolutely everyone and everything around you – it’s the best way to learn.
