The class of 2013: Maria Burns

Ahead of Drapers revealing 2014’s 30 under 30 of young fashion professionals to watch in our January 11 issue, we catch up with the class of 2013. Today it’s Nike’s NSW digital account executive Maria Burns’ turn in the spotlight.

How did it feel being named in Drapers’ 30 under 30?
It was a really nice surprise, and a great honour. I was totally flattered by it.

What has happened in your career since then?
Since being featured in Drapers I started my new job at Nike. I’ve just had my year anniversary, and it’s been a jam-packed, completely manic and utterly brilliant year. It’s a fantastic company, and I love working there.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people who want to get started in a career clothing retail? As an industry it’s fun, challenging and ever-changing. Work hard, and work with product that you love.
