Buyer numbers drop at Pitti Uomo

Menswear trade show Pitti Uomo in Florence witnessed a 4% decline in buyer numbers for autumn 19, after steady attendance growth in the two preceding January editions.

The number of buyers visiting the show dropped from 25,000 in January 2018 to 24,000 at the autumn 19 edition, which ran from 8 to 11 January.

Show organiser Pitti Immagine also confirmed that around 9,000 international buyers landed at the Fortezza de Basso last week, compared to 9,200 a year earlier.

The number of Italian visitors flocking to the show fell 8%, while the overall number of British and French visitors also decreased.

Organisers of the event did highlight, however, a particularly positive turnout from German visitors. They also reported growing numbers from Canada, Hong Kong, India and Taiwan.
