Drapers comment: Calling all nominations for Drapers 30 under 30

Are you aged 30 or under, working within the fashion industry and amazing at what you do? Do you know, work with or employ someone who is? Well, it’s time to step into the spotlight: the search for Drapers 30 Under 30 of 2017 is officially on.

Next Generation 2016: See who made January’s 30 under 30

Drapers’ Next Generation project is in its eighth year, having launched back in 2010. Published every January, the Next Generation special is one of Drapers’ most-read pieces of content every year. Meanwhile, the Next Generation event in May has grown into the industry’s premier careers and networking event for aspiring fashion professionals. 

Drapers’ highly anticipated 30 Under 30 is the centrepiece for the Next Generation project. Those chosen will be profiled within a January 2017 edition of Drapers. They will be contacted in November and invited to a group photo shoot in December – and an exclusive 30 Under 30 dinner in January will celebrate their success. 

The 30 will also be invited to Drapers’ annual Next Generation day-long event in May, where inspirational speakers from the industry will talk about their careers. Past speakers have included Ted Baker founder Ray Kelvin, former Marks & Spencer chief executive Sir Stuart Rose and Net-a-Porter co-founder Mark Sebba, so it is really one not to miss.

Drapers is looking for people aged 30 and under with a proven track record who have made a measurable difference to the businesses they have worked for and in the roles that they have held. You can come from a number of fashion disciplines –buying, merchandising, design, technical roles, including pattern cutting, grading or garment tech, retail/store operations, sales and marketing, among others – work in a digital capacity, including content, or be an entrepreneur. If you’re not sure if you, or the person you want to nominate is eligible, then just get in touch to ask.


We accept self-nominations, company-generated nominations, and third-party nominations. Each nomination should be supported with the following information:

  • Full name, job title, and company name
  • Age and date of birth. The nominee must be aged 30 or under in January 2017
  • CV and/or link to LinkedIn profile
  • 200 words on why the nominee should make the list
  • Line manager approval: This is required for self and third-party nominations
