Camerons in Ballymena, Northern Ireland

Chosen by Howard Ross, country manager UK and Ireland, Gerry Weber.

Camerons and its sister store McKillens are nothing like you would see in London. Although there are separate buyers for each of the stores, they have worked together successfully to identify their target markets and differentiate themselves.

Camerons looks like a traditional department store from the outside but has a clean, modern and functional interior. Brands are clearly identified and products are uncluttered, making it easy to find what you’re looking for. It offers all you could want under one roof; from menswear and womenswear to beauty, toys and furnishings.

The level of customer service is very high and I think the key to that is that the buyers also manage their departments on the shopfloor
itself. They are clearly in touch
with their customers and have a thorough understanding of their wants and needs. I think it’s the store staff’s welcoming attitude and willingness to help that keeps people coming back.
