Carolyn Massey

The look:

All too often the ubiquitous military influences on menswear collections come from other fashion ranges. For Carolyn Massey though they were derived straight from source with plaited epaulettes placed on jackets and waxed capes giving the range a battlefield edge. Full-length macs and scoop-necked tops added a nineties-borne androgynous edge. Tailoring stayed sharp and gold buttoned db styles looked perfect for the officer’s mess.

Key items:

On tailoring the db styles came through in long line, narrow versions while cigarette thin chinos and billowing trousers offered opposed silhouettes. Bib-fronted shirts and high-collared knits rounded off the commercial pieces while sleeveless flannel jackets added a fetish flavour.
