'Chanel effect' boosts sales at Peacocks

Peacocks has seen sales of its Chanel influenced fashion line rise by 30% after a boost from the release of blockbuster film Coco Avant Chanel.

Sales of the value retailer’s Chanel inspired quilted bag, which costs £10, have hit 100,000 since its introduction earlier this season and have jumped by 30% during the last two weeks.

Chanel-like pumps, also £10, have proved popular with consumers, resulting in the retailer’s decision to expand its range inspired by the Parisian fashion house, founded by the late Coco Chanel.

Peacocks is to launch the £15 Cha-wellie, which features Chanel’s trademark quilting, which has proved especially popular with customers looking to get the designer look at this summer’s festivals.

Peacocks buying director of accessories, Sarah O Shea, said: “Our customers can’t get enough of the Chanel effect, with gold chain bags, quilted wellies, pumps and pearl jewellery continuing to prove immensely popular in our stores nationwide.”
