Cheryl Cole, Singer and TV presenter

While there was plenty of sympathy for the Girls Aloud frontwoman earlier this year when her picture-perfect marriage was rocked by stories of footballer husband Ashley’s infidelities, it can be no fluke that her rise to national sweetheart has coincided with a dramatic fashion overhaul.

While the glitzy partywear remains appropriate for her onstage Girls Aloud persona, the off-duty Cole has shed her WAG-chav uniform of velour tracksuits, denim hotpants and baseball caps and replaced them with a sleeker, softer and more sophisticated wardrobe.

Since broadcasting of ITV’s X Factor began in August, Cole has shown why she deserves her celebrity fashion icon status, sporting everything from Luella bubble-skirted prom dresses to D&G leopard-print tunics, PVC leggings and sequin-spangled gowns. High-end shopping website My-Wardrobe is reportedly one of Cole’s favourite places to splash her cash.

It seems even a brawl in a nightclub toilet in your youth can be forgiven by the public when your legs look this good in a Matthew Williamson cocktail frock.
