Colette in Paris

Chosen by Henry Holland, founder of designer brand House of Holland

It has to be indie department store Colette in Paris. Every time I visit the city, I head straight there to be inspired and get my fix of French retail theatre.

It’s an interesting business that doesn’t just function as a shop but also as an art gallery, a meeting place, and as a whole experience. Being in the store makes you want to buy into the whole experience, not just what is for sale. The prices are quite high but the service is good, and it’s the product that stands out.

The buyers always opt for complete catwalk show looks, rather than a more commercial-led buy. In that way they buy into the show concept, which is great for a designer, and they buy in a very bold way.

They actively support young and up-and-coming designers, and have supported House of Holland since day one. We’ve been working together since the brand’s first season.
