Debenhams supplies team GB Hockey formalwear

Debenhams has become the official formalwear supplier for Great Britain Hockey’s men and women’s teams, providing outfits for all their formal engagements until 2015.

The retailer has supplied outfits to the 79 male and female team members and coaching staff, who will wear them to formal events, such as the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament in Malaysia in May and the Great Britain Hockey Olympic gala send-off dinner in July.

Debenhams struck the partnership following market research that found hockey resonated strongly with its customers, as the sport was played in most schools in the UK and had the most equal gender split of any sport.

The partnership “fits well into Debenhams’ business strategy”, said a Debenhams spokesperson. “Britishness is very much on the agenda for Debenhams in 2012 and it is also a key moment for sport in the UK,” they added. “Sport is key in everyone’s minds this year, and Debenhams is also stocking the official Adidas Team GB product, so it made sense for us as a retailer.”

The men’s outfits consist of grey suit, shirt, merino wool jumper, ties and brogues from Debenhams’ Red Herring line, while the women will wear a black Principles by Ben de Lisi shift dress and tailored jacket with Faith shoes.

All items are available to buy, with price points ranging from £9.50-£85.
