British designers to showcase in LA and Hong Kong

The British Fashion Council has extended its London Show Rooms scheme and will be taking British design talent to Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

The London Show Rooms programme initially helped fund designers to show at showrooms in Paris before extending its reach to New York. Designers that will participate include the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund shortlist and the British Fashion Awards menswear and accessories designers of the year for 2010.

The LA show room will take place from October 17 to 19 giving buyers and press in the area the chance to view the collections and also giving designers the opportunity to expand in this market.

The Hong Kong show room will take place from October 31 to November 1. The decision to showcase in Hong Kong supports the China Britain Fashion Alliance, an initiative between the BFC, the Beijing International Brand Management Centre and the China-Britain Business Council to promote British fashion in China, which was established in July.

Caroline Rush, chief executive officer of the BFC said: “London Show Rooms has become an essential initiative to promote British talent internationally and help designers develop their businesses through directly networking and working with media, retailers and the broader fashion industry in each region. We are delighted to take this initiative to LA and Hong Kong.”
