IMAGE GALLERY: Vivienne Westwood and Woolmark collaboration

Vivienne Westwood has collaborated for the first time with the Woolmark Company to produce a twelve piece autumn 12 collection for the designer’s Gold, Red and Man labels.

The collection comprises of pieces made from Australian merino wool in black, beige, camel, Bordeaux, blue and sage hues, and includes jersey dresses, cardigan suits and twinsets. For Vivienne Westwood Man, there are also cardigans, V-neck pull overs and turtlenecks.

Westwood has a history of using wool in her designs and has supported its usage as a sustainable fibre in fashion, emphasising its durability.

She said: “When I began as a fashion designer, well over 30 years ago, I succeeded in re-introducing into fashion the idea of fine knitwear, the English twinset. Everybody loves this fine knitwear. It’s so light, so comfortable. You can add more than one layer and it looks great.”

Her philosophy, she said, was ‘choose well, buy less, make it last.’

The collection will be available at selected Vivienne Westwood stores worldwide, as well as online.
