D&G

The look:
After two playful seasons characterised by spangly nautical motifs and acres of tartan, D&G took a step back in time for autumn 09. Nineteenth century opera Norma provided the inspiration, exemplified by a parade of opus-printed chiffon dresses, giving the collection a regal feel, with quilted fabrics updated into lampshade skirt shapes, brocade and corset bell shaped dresses and imperial shades of wine and gold.

Key pieces:
The Italian design duo aren’t ones for keeping things along a simple trajectory, so flanking the noble references were 1980s off the shoulder corset tops with voluminous sleeves and distressed stonewashed jeans dotted with coloured gemstones around the ankles.
