British designer John Galliano is returning to the world of fashion, taking up a temporary residency at the studio of Oscar de la Renta.
According to reports, Galliano is spending the next three weeks with de la Renta in his New York base.
This is the first time he has worked with a fashion house since he was fired from his role as head designer with Dior following a drunken anti-Semitic outburst in a Paris café in February 2011.
The tirade, for which Galliano was found guilty on charges of public insult and fined, also saw him dropped by his own eponymous label, John Galliano and later stripped of his Legion of Honour award.
But fellow designer de la Renta said Galliano - who has admitted to drink problems - had “worked long and hard on his recovery”.
“I am happy to give him the opportunity to reimmerse himself in the world of fashion and reacclimate in an environment where he has been so creative,” he added.
