Where do the industry’s power players sit in our 2017 ranking?

It has been a challenging year for many retailers and brands, as the industry has dealt with the fallout from the UK’s decision to leave the European Union. The drop in the value of sterling has hit profit margins and consumer confidence remains low. 

Still, some businesses are thriving. With Nick Beighton at the helm, Asos has had a phenomenal year of trading, and the leaders of several of its online competitors are working their way up our list of the 100 most influential people in fashion retail.

The biggest bricks-and-mortar retailers, such as JD Sports and Next, have been focusing on product, while others, such as John Lewis, aim to offer their shoppers an exciting in-store experience.

Our Top 100 list assesses the influencers in fashion retail. We look at their personal impact – have they been vocal about issues affecting the wider industry or made a point of nurturing young talent? – alongside their company’s performance.
