Dune Group appoints new ecommerce director

Footwear retailer The Dune Group has appointed Kate Smyth to the role of ecommerce director.

Smyth, who takes up her new role at the beginning of January 2013, has been with the Dune Group since June when she was recruited as an ecommerce consultant on a temporary basis as a replacement for former head of ecommerce Rob Bostock.

Since joining The Dune Group in June Smyth, who was previously ecommerce director at premium womenswear retailer LK Bennett, has helped with the development and launch of the retailer’s new multi-brand website.

At the same time the retailer has also announced the appointment of Jamie Ovenden to IT director.

Ovenden joined the Dune Group in January last year from Figleaves and since then has been developing the architecture and implementation plan for the group’s multi-channel strategy, improving the ecommerce platform and upgrading the core IT infrastructure to improve performance.

In November the group’s ecommerce sites were consolidated onto the Dune site,, enabling the retailer to offer the full range of the group’s in-house and external brands in one place.

Next year local language sites will also be launched in a number of markets across the world.
