Eileen Fisher steps up UK ambitions

Premium US womenswear brand Eileen Fisher plans to open three more stores in London by 2014 and step up its wholesale strategy less than a year after making its UK retail debut.

Eileen Fisher, which opened stores in Marylebone and Covent Garden in October, is scouting out Westfield London, Wimbledon Village and Richmond upon Thames as potential locations for the three stores.

Director of retail and global development Karen Grey said the company would also look at opening stores outside London.

“Our first phase of retail is in central London and the surrounding areas but then we fully expect to expand further outside of London. We want to become better known in the UK,” she said.

Eileen Fisher is also planning to grow its wholesale stockists in the UK.

The brand, which at present is only stocked in Fenwick department stores, is looking to sign 10 independents as well as another department store group by next year.

The brand will also show at London Fashion Week for the first time in September.
