Gossip Girl has taken the place of Sex and the City as the TV programme of choice for the 20-something fashion-savvy woman.
With its easy-on-the-eye cast, the US show, broadcast on ITV2 in the UK, has created distinct fashion personalities for each of its key characters, offering viewers more than one way to tap into the show’s style.
Not only that, but the fashion brand that character Blair Waldorf’s mother owns in the show is available in real life, providing a clever way of offering the Gossip Girl audience a piece of the action.
It is easy to understand why Gossip Girl has achieved such fashion kudos. Head stylist Eric Daman worked with Patricia Field in the Sex and the City costume department. Daman says of the Gossip Girl style: “It’s great because it’s accessible – you can get the copies at H&M or Nine West and still look brilliant.”
