What are you expecting from the Drapers Fashion Forum?
Lots of peers and people wanting to find out what’s going on in the sector and to get some tips and ideas and help going forward.
You’re taking part in a debate on “new global partnerships” what are you hoping to cover?
The large variety of different types of partnerships that people are using now. There is no “one size fits all” approach. I’ll be talking about what types of partnership work the best, and which are the most lucrative and positive in terms of driving the right behaviour.
What trends are you seeing in the area at the moment?
There is the Brexit question, which brings a level of uncertainty around potential knock on effects. We’re looking at how online affects things – as different areas of the world are at different stages of their digital evolution. At the moment most of our partnerships are bricks-and-mortar, but that is changing and we’re looking at the differences between online and traditional franchises.
The theme of the day is “fit for the future”. What does that mean to you?
It’s about having adaptability and flexibility in your future plans. There is an uncertainty about how international trade might move forward – you have to be light on your feet. I think it’s positive if you have different models that you can employ, so you can be light on your feet and ready to take whatever opportunities that there are. Spread your risk and mitigate. You have to be agile – if you’re a small-to-medium-sized business, you have to be quick on your feet.
