Exclusive: Ochre Blue to bag direct sales via website

Ochre Blue, the accessories brand launched by former senior figures from handbag label Radley, is to launch a transactional website.

Set to go live on November 5, it will sell Ochre Blue’s handbags and small leather accessories direct to shoppers for the first time.

The two-year-old brand counts several former Radley employees on its staff, including sales director Ivan Lister and design director Natalie Bolton, and has about 40 UK stockists.

According to Bolton, the etail site launch comes in response to customer demand and will be promoted via social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

“We have been getting an increasing number of customer queries through our website asking about where they can get hold of certain products, and we thought it made sense to launch the site before Christmas,” she said.

Bolton said expansion of Ochre Blue’s wholesale stockist base would continue gradually by partnering with the right retailers. “We want to choose our wholesale accounts carefully,” she said. “Because of our price point, it wouldn’t be suitable to be stocked everywhere.”

Retail prices range from £99 to £239, and stockists include John Lewis, selected Fenwick stores and indies including footwear and accessories store The Golden Boot in Maidstone.
