Exclusive: Radley bags a new chief executive

Radley has appointed a new chief executive - a year after the surprise departure of former boss Sven Gaede.

Xavier Simonet is joining the accessories brand from Paris-based DB Apparel Group - parent company of Playtex and Wonderbra, among others - where he was vice-president and general manager, international.

Previously he worked at Australian swimwear brand Seafolly, and LVMH, where he worked for 11 years in Asia and Europe. Simonet has lived and worked in the UK only once - between 2004-06 - when he was managing director, UK and Ireland, for perfume house Guerlain.

Radley chairman Roger Best, who came out of retirement to take on the chief executive role on an interim basis last January, said Simonet had “great experience of developing women’s premium brands around the world”.

Best added: “He is the right person to lead the company through its exciting next growth phase.”

Simonet, who is relocating from Paris to London to take on the new role this spring, said: “The potential for further growth is considerable and I am looking forward to working with the team to build Radley into an internationally renowned premium brand.”
