Overall sales at the retailer surged 20.9% boosted by a strong performance online with sales from Johnlewis.com up 58%.
The total sales figure for the week to March 17 was £60.1m, with Mother’s Day trade offering a boost to sales particularly due to an uplift in the purchase of premium gifts.
John Lewis home buying director Paula Nickolds said: “Trading focus should now turn to the opportunity of Easter as shops begin preparing for the customer events weekend.
“There are some compelling promotions and exciting activity planned and there’s no doubt we can be well placed to make the most of the additional footfall the bank holidays will bring.”
Ecommerce director Robin Phillips added: “We continue to focus on enhancing our multi-platform offer - including enabling our customers to shop with us using mobile devices for the first time later this year.”
