Fashion sales soar at John Lewis

John Lewis said fashion sales rose 19% on the back of a 13% uplift in total sales to £54.5 million at the department store for the week ended October 17.

John Lewis said that strong growth in fashion sales had come via branded and own brand merchandise. Womenswear posted gains of 24% over the week, with branded womenswear up 25.5%. Menswear showed an uplift of 21%, with branded merchandise 30% ahead.

Outerwear sales were up 45%.

Kidswear sales rose 30% with girlswear ahead 50%.

All but five stores reported sales up, while online sales at were up by more than a third in the week. Among the bricks and mortar stores the biggest riser was Cambridge, up just under 20%.
