Fenwick pre-tax profits rise

Fenwick, the department store chain, has bucked the sluggish high street trend to post record annual sales of £433m.

The results showed a 5% sales increase and 5% rise in pre-tax profits to £36.7m in the year to January 28 2011, as reported in The Sunday Times.

A dividend of £4m will be split among the members of the Fenwick family, which still own the Newcastle-based chain.

In May this year, chairman of Fenwick group, Mark Fenwick, and his family were listed among fashion’s top net-worth individuals in The Sunday Times Rich List. The group’s worth was listed as £438m, up £18m on 2010.
