Flannels appoints new head menswear buyer

Flannels has appointed Carl Julian as head menswear buyer, replacing Tim Lancaster, who left the retailer this week.

Julian was previously manager of the Sports Direct-owned mini-chain’s Liverpool store, a position he held for four years, and has been at Flannels for eight years in total.

In his new role, Julian will be responsible for introducing new menswear brands across Flannels’ eight stores, including the Life menswear store and Flannels outlet in Manchester, as well as online.

Flannels stocks menswear brands including Armani Jeans, DSquared, Paul Smith and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Lancaster started at Flannels as a sales assistant in 1996 before rising through the ranks as floor manager, store manager and buyer. He had been head of menswear buying since 2007.

He is to join Manchester-based footwear sales and distribution company 2Squared Agency as head of sales. It represents brands including Swims and Kinner Italia. Lancaster replaces Paul Smallpage, who left the agency late last year.
