With many retailers announcing endless redundancies and restructures over the
past six months, job security has never been as high a priority for the industry than it has for this year.
As talent gets rarer and candidates become more risk averse, 2008 was not a patch on last year’s huge list of movers and shakers. Still, if you’re having trouble finding the perfect candidate, Fran Minogue, managing partner of recruitment firm Heidrick & Struggles, is the person to call.
Her list of achievements this year has largely been international, reflecting the tough climate in the UK, and includes Suzy Biszantz as chief executive for La Perla in north America, Alan Hed as executive vice president, international, for New Balance and Valerie Chapoulaud-Floquet as chief executive of Louis Vuitton in Taiwan.
Some major placements are currently in the pipeline, notably a new chief operating officer for young fashion chain New Look.
