George at Asda announces fashion student winners

George at Asda has announced a group of fashion design students from Nottingham Trent University as the winners of its menswear design competition.

Lucinda Bennett, Tahlia Goodwin, Liz Logue, Amy Tydeman and Jenna Harvey from Nottingham Trent University won Asda vouchers for their collection of lightweight waterproofs, tailored coats and twisted seam jeans.

The design students were challenged to create a range of menswear collections for George autumn 09. Students then presented their work - which included men’s tailoring and casualwear - to a panel of George representatives, who chose the winning team.

George menswear design manager Andy Burns said: “The winning group highlighted a gap within our ranges and satisfied it credibly and commercially for our market. They had a very good understanding of who the customer is and also of key brands and how they capture trends. There was also excellent attention to detail and a first-class approach to establishing key shapes.”
