George at Asda launches £20 suit

George at Asda has lowered the price of its entry level suit to £20 for Easter weekend.

George at Asda said it had reduced the price of the suit from £25 to £20 for Easter weekend only. The suit features a double breasted jacket and trousers and is sourced from Bangladesh and China.

“Why should people have to worry about being able to afford basic workwear in order to make a good impression to help them earn a living, when quality clothing can easily be made accessible for everyone?”

Anthony Thompson, managing director, George at Asda

George at Asda’s other price promotions include two shirts for £5 and a two shirt and tie sets for £8, meaning the total cost of an interview outfit is just £24.

The promotion is targeted at shoppers who want to smarten up at work because of general concerns around job security. It will also be promoted as an “interview suit”.

George at Asda managing director Anthony Thomson said: “For some men, even having to spend £20 on a suit must be a carefully considered purchase as wallets are particularly strained.”

“Why should people have to worry about being able to afford basic workwear in order to make a good impression to help them earn a living, when quality clothing can easily be made accessible for everyone?”

“Only 34% of men in full time employment feel like they have job security and are conscious that dressing to impress in the office can sometimes help them keep hold of their jobs.”

Drapers magazine will feature a full length interview with George brand director Fiona Lambert in early May. Click here to subscribe.
