Gieves & Hawkes bolsters top team

Savile Row men’s tailoring business Gieves & Hawkes has made a trio of appointments to bolster its top team.

Ray Clacher, who has been leading Gieves & Hawkes’ expansion into China over the last 12 years, has been appointed as managing director of the brand worldwide and will now be based in the UK.

Clacher, whose appointment is effective immediately, is joined by Jason Basmajian as creative director.

Basmajian has spent the past six years at luxury Italian menswear label Brioni where he was artistic director.

Simon Baker has also joined as marketing director from Scottish distillers Whyte & Mackay.

Gieves & Hawkes chairman Mark Henderson said: “After an exhaustive search we are convinced that these three men are uniquely well qualified to help take G&H forward both in the UK and internationally.”

John Durnin, who was chief executive of Gieves & Hawkes for almost two years, left the business in March last year
