Green confirms Arcadia and Bhs integration

Owner of Arcadia and Bhs Sir Philip Green has confirmed that Bhs will be operationally integrated into the Arcadia Group and be run as one of its brands.

The announcement, that Arcadia and Bhs functions, including logistics, property and finance will be consolidated in a bid to improve group efficiencies, was made at head office yesterday.

The move to integrate the businesses comes following a successful trial at Bhs in Peterborough where Arcadia brands Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Wallis were introduced.

The board and property teams are reviewing how this, and other retail concepts, can be extended into further markets, said a statement.

Green said: “This is work in progress. I believe we have the necessary skill and experience across the two businesses to make some strategic changes that will benefit the group as a whole, and further strengthen our position within the market place during a difficult retail climate.”

Senior teams at both businesses will begin an ‘information gathering period’ over the coming months before making any strategic changes.
