While it is far from a revelation, it would be churlish to not include the grey suit in any list of key men’s pieces for autumn 09. It was the centre of gravity at both Milan and Paris and the rest of the wardrobe could be characterised as satellites circling it. These included layering knits and tonal outerwear options. But while the grey suit could support more colour in terms of shirt options, most designers opted for subtle tonalities rather than in-your-face prints on wovens.
In general the suit proportions are slim like the Alessandro Dell’Acqua and John Varvatos versions but under the shadow of grey, there is variety aplenty for the season with one to 3sb styles, three pieces and a whole host of db options also emerging.
