High street price war kicks off with Easter Sales

An Easter price war is set to kick off as Debenhams and House of Fraser launch Sales to grab shopper spend over the holiday period.

Debenhams has started a Blue Cross Sale today with discounts of up to 70% on selected items, and 50% off a range of other products. The price cuts also include 20% off all J by Jaspar Conran and Rocha, John Rocha handbags, as well as £10 off all women’s design Rocha, John Rocha jeans.

House of Fraser’s Sale will start tomorrow in stores and online and run for three weeks. It will include up to 50% off selected items. The retailer said that the Sale was a planned promotion which happened at the same time last year, in relation to the Easter holiday.

Other retailers are likely to launch promotions in the run up to Easter. Earlier in the season Debenhams, House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer went head to head with mid-season discounting, while John Lewis was forced to keep pace under its price matching policy.
