A quality, value-for-money offer with broad appeal from the high street stalwart
- 1-3 Foregate Street
Clarks impresses with its balance of trend-focused product and a wide selection of classic, casual and comfort styles that appeal to its broad customer base. On entering the store you are greeted by a display of women’s winter boots, some more fashion forward than others including biker buckles and wedged ankle boots. Faux-snakeskin and the season’s key autumnal berry hues are all seen too. The men’s offer includes classic desert boots, first-class Chelsea boots, lovely brogues ranging from formal leather work shoes to great on-trend brogue boots, plus brogues featuring chunky contrast white soles and suede variations.
In general, Clarks offers terrific value for money, working the balance between good quality at a good price point. Women’s suede wedge ankle boots and Western-style heeled leather ankle boots are £59.99, an alluring pair of high-heeled Chelsea boots push up to £79.99 but are worth it, and the key Acne-inspired zipped heeled ankle boot is £69.99.
A men’s leather desert boot at £74.99 catches the eye and is better value than Topman’s £75 version. Brogues range from £110 for a premium leather, leather-sole version, down to the cheapest at £49.99.
Interesting window displays highlight the broad appeal Clarks offers for a diverse customer while the layout and merchandising inside are good. Signs throughout direct customers to bigger sizes and wider calf fittings on knee-high boots.
Staff were particularly helpful, greeting me on entrance to the store and offering to find alternative styles and sizes.
