Monsoon - Units 5-33, Bon Accord Shopping Centre
Standout pieces include a furry textured coat, which has been flagged as a key trend for next season. The pink theme is acknowledged with items such as a statement mac, while embroidered boxy jackets and skirts offer a point of difference on the matching separates trend, which is mostly only printed elsewhere. A small range of basic knits and chinos is lost among the more heavily embellished pieces - it looks dull in comparison.
The store is easy to browse. Occasionwear is divided by colour, while casual styles are largely organised by product, such as coats or knits. A good range of sizes is on display and large tags flag prices.
Occasionwear is largely in line with Coast: a pretty chiffon and satin dress is £99, while prices reach £199 for similar styles in maxi lengths. Simple, unlined cotton summer dresses seem expensive at £45 and £39 for blouses is pricier than those of similar quality at Next. However, the fluffy textured coat at £89 is worth it. The pricing structure is good: on outerwear it ranges from £89 for a pink trench to £179 for an embroidered coat.
Friendly shop assistants were on hand to compliment customers and advise on sizes unprompted. But the changing rooms have only two cubicles and hardly enough room to move, which is a shame as they are important in an occasionwear shop where more money is spent.
Visual Merchandising 9/10
One of the better windows, with a colourful, large spring image and fully accessorised mannequins with pricing. Inside, props such as old trunks are used in displays. The store is very tidy and even the Sale rail at the back is arranged by colour.
