So actor Ashton Kutcher is the next face of Pepe Jeans, set to replace Sienna Miller.

This is good news for Kutcher fans, who will no doubt be pleased Demi’s other (younger) half will appear in more press. Read more here.

However, the appointment provides fresh fuel for the model versus celebrity debate. When it comes to advertising a brand, opinions vary on the best approach. Using non-celebrity, professional models has the benefit of bringing the focus of a campaign onto the products and their unique features.

Yet a celebrity image and its associations have the potential to cement the brand in consumer’s minds and attract a fresh wave of customers.
